Information about using EndNote

Using Article Linker to capture full text articles

Sometimes, for a variety of reasons, the "Find Full Text" utility fails to capture PDFs for some of your EndNote references even though the UC Libraries may subscribe to the journal for the reference in your EndNote library.  In such cases you can utilize UC Libraries' "Article Linker" to capture the PDF article and then use the "Manual Option" to attach the PDF to the reference in your EndNote library.

Article Linker Button

Before using Article Linker be sure to complete the "Optimize" instructions provided on the Full Text Utility page.

  1. Select (highlight) any "article" reference in your EndNote Library.
  2. Select References from the EndNote menu bar and then select URL.
  3. Select OpenURL Link to open the UC Article Linker window.
  4. Select the "Article" link. (If there is no article link, UC Libraries may not subscribe to this journal, Try another reference from your EndNote library.)
  5. Article Linker may take you to any number of publisher sites, but finding the PDF is usually intuitive.  Find the PDF, click on it and save it to your desktop.
  6. Go to the "Attachment Option" page to discover how to link this PDF to your EndNote reference.
