Information about using EndNote

Getting Information into EndNote

EndNote provides a variety of options for adding references into your EndNote library. The most commonly used options  are direct export of references from research literature databases, importing references (either from text files or PDFs) and adding references manually.   There are additional less frequently used, but often useful, options for adding references to your EndNote library.  You will find online tutorials for all of these options in the following pages.

  • Exporting                    ---     use directly from within an electronic research literature database
  • Importing                    ---     use for PDF files or for adding references from text files when the direct export option is unavailable
  • Manually                    ---     use the manual option when the exporting or importing options are unavailable or for quick convenience
  • Additional Options     ---     use for capturing data from web pages or when using the EndNote online search utility
