Information about using EndNote

EndNote Online Account -- Setting up your online institutional access

Because the University of Cincinnati Libraries subscribes to Thomson Reuters’ Web of Knowledge product all students, faculty and staff are authorized to register for a free institutional EndNote online account.   (Information about the advantages and features of the EndNote institutional online account)

Important:  When you set up your EndNote Online account be sure to use an on-campus computer or log in from UC Libraries proxy server or though VPN.  This applies to all 3 account setup methods listed below.


From within the EndNote desktop program

  1. Open your EndNote software.
  2. From the main menu select Preferences and then Sync.
  3. Click on the Enable Sync button to invoke  the EndNote Web Login dialog box.
  4. Click on the Sign Up button to begin the account set up process.

Alternatively, from your browser (does not require the desktop version of EndNote)

  1. Connect to the EndNote account registration page.
  2. Click on “Create an Account.”
  3. Complete the email information boxes and click on [Continue].
  4. Complete the User Registration form and click on [I Agree] to accept EndNote’s usage policy.
