Kentucky Jury Verdicts

A researcher cannot rely on regular case reporters to find verdicts and settlements, as trial decisions are not officially reported.  Here are a few sources for locating Kentucky verdicts:

Citation Rules

Bluebook, Rules 12.9.3
Cite current or uniform rules in large and small capitals, without any date.  Use the abbreviations provided or abbreviations suggested by the rules themselves.

Kentucky Rules

The Kentucky Constitution, Section 116 empowers the Kentucky Supreme Court to promulgate rules of practice and procedure for the Kentucky courts.  The Supreme Court sets forth the operation rules for the courts and establishes general procedures.  The rules are grouped into the following categories: 

  • Kentucky Supreme Court Rules
  • Kentucky Local Court Rules
  • Kentucky Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Kentucky Rules of Criminal Procedure
  • Kentucky Rules of Evidence
  • Administrative Procedures of the Court of Justice

Kentucky Rules - Print

The Kentucky Rules are included in the Kentucky Revised Statutes Annotated. The KRS volumes include case annotations and references to scholarly articles. West Group also publishes a three volume set of Kentucky rules annually.  The rules volumes include: state rules, federal rules, and local rules.
