Boolean searching, also known as terms and connectors searching, was named after the mathematician George Boole. Boole helped establish the field of symbolic logic otherwise known as Boolean algebra. Basically, what he did was apply algebra to human logic. Most electronic databases can be searched using Boolean logic.
