UC Common Read: Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie, A Tale of Love and Fallout

This resource guide is a collaboration between UC Libraries and First Year Experience and Learning Communities' Common Read program. This guide on this year's Common Read, Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie, A Tale of Love and Fallout, is designed to provide further information on the text itself.

Radioactive is a unique book that combines pictures, illustrations and text; history and biography; and love and science. To help address the diverse, interlocking pieces of this text, the resources in this guide are divided up into a number of categories that highlight the major themes from the book: Graphic novels, love and death, Marie Curie, radiation and science discovery, and women in STEM. Like in Radioactive, the themes in this guide overlap and build upon one another to create an interdisciplinary conversation on knowledge, discovery, and human nature.
