Welcome to the University of Cincinnati Libraries' psychology resources & services portal. The purpose of this portal is to connect UC students, faculty and staff with the resources (electronic or print) they may require to complete course assignments, conduct research or advance their career.

Retrieving Items from UC Libraries  

The University of Cincinnati Libraries is expanding its Click & Collect retrieval and pickup service providing users with access to print collection materials in order to support UC teaching and research. Users may now request print items for pickup at the following additional library locations:

  • College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) Library
  • College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) Library
  • Geology-Mathematics-Physics Library
  • Walter C. Langsam Library  (6/22/20) 

NEW Coronavirus


  The Coronavirus Research Database is a collection of journal articles, preprints, conference proceedings, dissertations and more related to COVID-19 and other coronaviruses. It includes comprehensive research background coverage of past pandemics and epidemics, like MERS and SARS, to give researchers and students context around the current global crisis. (4/28/20)

Supplementary Online Content  

The UC Libraries currently has short term access to Jove (Journal of Video Experiments) through June 15, 2020 to bolster access to online content to cutting edge scientific experiments.  (3/18/20)

New Publishing Guide   If you need help getting published, you will find the latest edition to the "Publishers, Publishing & Research Impact" web page very helpful.  R. J. Sternberg's "Guide to Publishing in Psychology Journals" provides publishing advice from nearly 30 scholars in the field of psychology.  The focus of this work is on the writing and submission process, but included is advice on journal selection and open access publishing. APA Style Central is now "Academic Writer"  

“APA Style Central,” the learning and writing service for APA style format, has rebranded itself as “Academic Writer.”  Academic Writer is essentially the same product as APA Style Central.  All of the nearly 300 learning objects from APA Style Central have been retained in Academic Writer.  The “learning” component for learning APA style format remains the best such tool for learning APA style. However, the American Psychological Association is broadening the “writing and reference management” capabilities of this service.  All APA Style Central links will automatically be redirected to Academic Writer. New Electronic Encyclopedias   OhioLINK added the Oxford Research Encyclopedia collection to its vast suite of reference tools.  This includes three new electronic encyclopedias for psychology.  The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Psychology,  the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Neuroscience and the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Linguistics All three encyclopedias offer substantive, peer-reviewed articles by experts in their fields of specialization. Articles are monitored and updated as needed. All articles include links to references cited.   See other psychology reference tools.  (7/30/18)
New Counseling & Social Work videos   A Counseling & Social Work collection of videos has been added to the UC Libraries' Films on Demand (over 2,400 psychology related videos) streaming video collection.  The new collection of  135 videos includes educational videos on the DSM-5, psychopharmacology, crisis counseling and much more.   (2/13/18)

BrowZine is another tool to help researchers stay current with research in their field.  Use BrowZine to create your own personal library of journals in your areas of interest.   BrowZine will automatically upload new issues to your personal library, and all the articles in your selected journals are available in full-text format.  Further, install the BrowZine  APP onto your tablet, iPad or smart phone and sync all of your devices to give you access to your personal library 24/7.  (6/1/17)

Data Management Help


  The University of Cincinnati Libraries added a new information portal to assist researchers in managing and preserving research data, finding and acquiring external data, and in utilizing GIS techniques and software.  You can access the new Research Data & GIS Services portal here or via the navigation bar on the left.  (3/15/17)

APA Style Central


  APA Style Central is the consummate tool for learning and using APA style for a wide range of users: undergraduates, graduates and faculty.  If you use APA style or you mentor somebody that does, you really need to take a look at APA Style Central.  (1/25/17)

APA Style Central Trial Completed

  The University of Cincinnati Libraries' trial for APA Style CENTRAL is completed.  The responses to the trial survey will be evaluated, and the Libraries' will make a decision regarding the acquisition of this service.  (11/12/16)
NEW Trial Service   The University of Cincinnati Libraries is offering a trial for APA Style CENTRAL, a major new research service produced by the American Psychological Association.  APA Style CENTRAL offers a wide range of services for undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in the social sciences and related disciplines.   We welcome you to explore this new APA service. NEW Video Resource  

The UC Libraries recently added Kanopy, a resource for streaming video content.  Kanopy includes over 700 streaming videos on topics related to psychology.   Look for Kanopy under  "More Media Resources" on the psychology Media page. (12/6/2015) 

NEW Online Reference



The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM-5 has been added to the UC Libraries e-book collection.  You can find the DSM-5 alphabetically listed in the Other Reference Works box.  (1/25/2015)

Two NEW trial databases


The UC Libraries has arranged for trials of two new databases: JoVE (the Journal of Visualized Experiments) and Films on Demand (a new collection of streaming videos).  Please go to the Trial Databases page to peruse these exciting new resources and record your preference for acquiring these resources.  NEW Media Pages Added


The Media pages list resources for psychology videos and related media.  Additionally, a video help page shows how to add streaming video content from the new Counseling and Therapy in Video collection to your Blackboard content.  (11/26/2012)

 Major New Video  Source


The UC Libraries recently acquired Counseling and Therapy in Video, a collection of over 700 streaming videos available for classroom or individual use that includes therapy sessions by renowned therapists, reenactments and training videos.  The whole collection is accessible via browsing and advanced indexing.  (10/24/2012)

 NEW Trial Database


 UC Libraries is sponsoring a trial for "Counseling and Therapy in Video."  (9/4/2012)



The OhioLINK version of PsycINFO has been terminated earlier than projected.  The Ebscohost platform is now the exclusive platform for UC's PsycINFO users. (9/2/2012)



PsycINFO is now available on Ebscohost, a new platform (interface).  The database will remain available on the old OhioLINK OSearch platform for a five  month transition period.  It will be removed from OSearch platform for a five  month transition period.  It will be removed from OhioLINK this coming December.  Please visit the PsycINFO Platforms page to discover the advantages of this platform change.  (6/28/12)



UC Libraries has acquired access to the database PsycTESTS.  This database  provides extensive access to tests, measures, scales and other assessment instruments. The range of instruments represented in PsycTESTS will be of interest to researchers in education, the behavioral and social sciences and related disciplines. The database includes nearly 7,000 tests and over 75% of them are available in full text.   To access this database visit the Tests & Measurements Unpublished Tests page. (6/28/12)

The University of Cincinnati Libraries in collaboration with the American Psychological Association is offering a free trial to the new PsycTests database.
