Civic Engagement: Inspire Students to Participate

Civic Engagement provides a platform of activities, videos, and handouts for inspiring students to engage with their community and use their voices as informed citizens.

How To Use:

  • Small groups or individuals
  • Stand alone activities or as component to scaffold an assignment/project 

Canvas: Incorporate into course and use asynchronously or synchronously

  • Module or Page - include as part of assignment/project
  • Assignment - assign as component of scaffold assignment/project for graded or participation points
  • Discussion Board - assign and have students post responses (e.g. reflection, takeaways) 

Citizen Literacy Toolkit

Students can take deep dives into aspects of evaluating information including expertise, news literacy, and informed voting. These include activities, instructions, videos, handouts, and further reading sources. Note: many of the activities can be multi-disciplinary or have a discipline-specific focus.
