Advocacy (24 LITG 501): Federal Law Research

This guide is for first year legal research students taking Advocacy and needing to research Federal Law.

Legal materials can fall into two different categories:  (1) Primary and (2) Secondary.  Secondary sources are about the law.  They explain, analyze, interpret, discuss, and cite to primary sources. Primary sources are the law themselves. This guide covers researching federal law with an emphasis on the primary sources.
