University of Cincinnati Health Sciences Library has been selected by the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) to join the Region 6 Partner Outreach Program for 2021-2022 in addition to being a Region 6 Resource library. The Partner Outreach Program (POP) aims to provide health information access to support health equity throughout NNLM Region 6. Region 6 of the NNLM serves Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. This year only two Ohio libraries were designated as POP ambassadors, we join the Ohio State Health Sciences Library to serve Ohio residents.
What is the NNLM Partner Outreach Program?
In pursuit of supporting health equity within the region POP ambassadors will provide health information and training to underserved groups including tribal communities and organizations. POP libraries will also act as ambassadors for NNLM resources and services as well as communicate with the larger NNLM organization about regional health information needs and work to remediate those needs through training programs. Finally, POP ambassadors will identify potential partners for outreach within the region. More information about NNLM’s Partner Outreach Program can be found on their website.
The POP ambassador designation will allow University of Cincinnati Health Sciences Library to provide increased programming and services to underserved populations in the region and we are proud to have been awarded this opportunity to serve the community.
