AI Tools for Education

This guide highlights AI tools for teaching, presentations, accessibility, and learning.

Microsoft Reading Progress

Reading Progress is an add-on in Microsoft Class team that supports and tracks the reading fluency of the students. Students record their readings on camera and submit the recording to Teams. The tool then offers automated feedback on pronunciation errors, missing words, added words, and other aspects of reading fluency.

Benefits

  • Automated fluency checks save time for teachers

  • Automatically collects and organizes data about students’ reading

  • Can be integrated with immersive readers for independent fluency check

Limitations

  • Some students have reported difficulties getting Reading Progress to recognize their camera and/or microphone

  • While Microsoft Reading Progress is a useful tool for practicing oral reading fluency in a variety of languages, its language support may be limited

  • Students are intended to work directly with this tool so there is no teacher intervention that can filter out potential inaccuracies or biases

Cost

  • Free for Microsoft Teams for school users
