Determining Prestige of Journal

In addition, in the sciences, the Eigenfactor may also play a part.

The first arrow is labled "Impact Factors" and describes how prestige a journal is determined by the number of cites an article in the past couple of years. The second arrow labeled "Immediacy Factor" describes the prestige of a journal is by the ration of number of cites to current articles divided by the number of current articles in the past year. The thrid arrow labeled "Eigenfactor" describes the importance of a scientific journal is based on the number of incoming citations from other "highly-ranked journals."
