Finding Statistics

Statistics are published online and in print publications. Providers include: the federal government, state governments, international agencies, private entities, and various organizations. Some statistics are mandated by law, but in many instances, it is voluntary.

U.S. Department of Education's Data & Research
The DoE offers a variety of data and statistics for related to students, schools, and adminstration.
National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
The primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations.
Data.gov
Data.gov increases the ability of the public to easily find, download, and use datasets that are generated and held by the Federal Government. Data.gov provides descriptions of the Federal datasets (metadata), information about how to access the datasets, and tools that leverage government datasets. The data catalogs will continue to grow as datasets are added. Federal, Executive Branch data are included in the first version of Data.gov.
U.S. Census Bureau
The U.S. Census Bureau provides statistical information about many different educational topics.
