Clermont College Library during COVID-19

Responses to frequently asked questions about Clermont College Library services during COVID-19.

About Services during COVID-19

Clermont College Library is closed until face-to-face classes resume. During this time, there will be no access to our print collections or spaces. However, the following services and resources will be available through the Clermont College Library:

For answers to some of our frequently asked questions during this time, please use the page's navigation to jump to your question. If you don't see your question listed, ask us at clermontlibrary@uc.edu.

Returning Library Materials

Because the UC Clermont Library is closed and does not have a book return dropbox, it is not accepting any returns. Please do not attempt to return any materials at this time. If you plan on returning in the fall, please keep your materials and return them at that time. Fines will not accumulate. Otherwise, books may be returned to the drop slot at the main entrance of Langsam Library. When we get closer to returning to campus, we will send out more updates about returning materials.  If you have any questions, email the Clermont College Library at clermontlibrary@uc.edu.

Is the Clermont College Library open?

The Clermont College Library is closed until face-to-face classes resume. Therefore, access to our collection, picking up and dropping of library materials, and access to our spaces are not available. However, access to our e-collections and virtual assistance remains open for business.

Can the library still help me?

Yes! Here are just a few ways:

How can I contact the library?

During this time, we recommend you email us at clermontlibrary@uc.edu. A response will be given within 1 hour when received during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.).

How can I access materials through the library?

Because UC Libraries are closed, library materials are limited to our e-collection available on the UC Libraries website. Please note when using e-collections off-campus, there are some extra steps to ensure your access to library content.

At this time, OhioLINK and SearchOhio borrowing has been suspended until further notice. Electronic resources are still available through Summon.

I use the library's textbook reserves for my required reading. Is there a way I can access these?

Because the library is closed until face-to-face classes resume, it is recommended that you reach out to your instructor to see if an alternative reading assignment can be found. Clermont College Library staff is happy to work with students or instructors seeking alternative reading assignments. You can contact us at clermontlibrary@uc.edu.

I have materials currently checked out. Will I receive a late fine?

Library users are encouraged to keep library materials during this time. Because the UC Clermont Library is closed and does not have a book return dropbox, it is not accepting any returns. Please do not attempt to return any materials at this time. If you plan on returning in the fall, please keep your materials and return them at that time.  Where possible, due dates have already been extended to May 4, 2020. Fines will not be incurred for UC, OhioLINK or Interlibrary Loan items.

Otherwise, books may be returned to the drop slot at the main entrance of Langsam Library.

My student no longer can access the required text. What are my options?

Clermont College Library staff are happy to assist you. You are always welcome to email clermontlibrary@uc.edu for help locating resources. As a default, we have a few quick recommendations:

  1. Visit UC Libraries to browse the millions of items already available online through our library.
  2. Explore Open Educational Resources.
  3. A number of external vendors/publishers have made their videos and content temporarily available in response to the crisis.

Does the library have any resources to support teaching during this time?

The library has many resources available to support you and your students online. Check out some of the resources below. If you'd like to discuss customizing existing content or creating something new, please email clermontlibrary@uc.edu to discuss.
