Use the Library Catalog to find the books in UC Libraries' collections. You can search for books by author, title, keyword or subject. The catalog also includes records for maps, videos, music scores, slides and other material types.
Textbooks and other course materials required for individual classes generally are NOT purchased for the library collection. As a research library, our collections are focused on the diverse and long-term research needs of our users. However, some UC Libraries do buy textbooks.

Some library databases include selected textbooks.
Your professor may put some material on reserve for a class.
The library's online catalog will tell you if an item is a reserve item. If you know your class has items on reserve, you can search in the online catalog for reserve materials by course and by instructor.
To check out reserve items, go to the desk of the library where the item is held and give the item call number t the person at the desk.
Please note that reserve items are checked out for limited amounts of time. If an item is a "closed" reserve item, it must be used in the library. If an items is an "open" reserve item, it may be used anywhere as long as it is returned within the loan period. Reserve items need to be returned on time and to the location where you borrowed them.
Electronic reserves are posted directly through individual Canvas course pages.
