Communication
- UC Libraries’ Communication office is creating regular central communications for LiBlog, Bearcats Landing and the website. The most recent one sent in April was announcing the May 23 OhioLINK borrowing/renewing freeze. The next one will give a sneak peak of the discovery layer, discuss permalinks, and remind about OhioLINK borrowing. The public LSP webpage and FAQ is updated frequently and can be linked to in all communications. The external communication plan is available on the LSP Migration Team along with sample communication and the most recent communication.
- With the LSP Upgrade drawing near, pop-up messages have been added to the Libraries homepage as well as to the UCLID catalog search page. These both link to the LSP external web page, which includes the latest updates, key dates and service interruptions.
OhioLINK Summer Events
- July 8, 3-4PM – Primo Bingo! Erik Ziedses des Plantes at University of Dayton will lead this post-go-live activity as an enjoyable refresher on Primo tasks, features, and other tricks. - July 16, 11AM – 12PM – Beyond Go Live: FLVC librarians share their post-go-live experiences. Join three librarians from a range of library types for a Schwing-moderated panel discussion about their post-go live experiences. Training
ExLibris and OhioLINK will provide on-site training throughout Ohio mid-late February. While specific dates and locations have yet to be announced, training is expected to start in the southern part of the state and move northward. One day will focus on technical services, and another will concentrate on fulfillment. Due to space limitations, a train-the-trainer model will be implemented, allowing trainers to roll out the modules to their libraries. We will develop a local rollout plan once more information is available.
You can stay up to date on the latest training in the LSP Training Channel and on the OhioLINK Training Resources page. We highly recommend reviewing the Glossaries and Terms resources as you navigate the training phases.
Communication
Melissa Norris is kicking off the communications component of the migration this month. Here are some updates:
- OhioLINK is sharing communication samples, templates and plans on their extranet. Melissa will contribute to this effort as it will be especially of help to those libraries without communication professionals.
- Communication to the campus community outside of libraries will begin in the spring. In the meantime, Melissa is adding an update to the News & Events page so that library staff have a reference and something to share if needed. Library users will also find the statement if they come to the News & Events page.
- Melissa will develop the UCL LSP Migration Communication Plan and timeline for the migration team to review before winter break.
Alma/Primo Certification
Congratulations and thanks to Aja Bettencourt-McCarthy (Primo) and Susan Banoun (Alma) who are the first UC Libraries team members to complete the certification process!
Jéanne Brooks briefed the Leadership Council on certification on Oct. 29 and the Implementation Team will be working on a rollout plan.
