ONLINE LIBRARY INSTRUCTION FOR ENGL 1001

There are two options for online library instruction for ENGL 1001: one is self-paced, and allows you to work through the steps  on this guide on your own; the other is a series virtual workshops led by a librarian.  Both the self-paced workbook and the workshops will cover developing  topics, choosing keywords, and searching  for and evaluating sources.

  • Registration is required and  is automatically approved. You can register and/or cancel registration up until the workshop starts.
  • Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to make sure your audio is set up. You will not need a camera or microphone, but you will need to have speakers or headphones to hear.
  • The workshop will be most beneficial using a laptop or computer (tablets and phones may make it more difficult to engage in some of the research activities).
  •  Attendance will be taken and lists sent to instructors after each workshop. Students will also complete a digital worksheet they can send to instructors as proof of attendance.

SELF-PACED INSTRUCTION: LIBRARY WORKBOOK

This workbook contains all of the activities within this guide, in one spot.  You can also access these worksheets individually in each corresponding unit.  The handbook is a pdf form, so you can download it and edit it directly on your own computer.  This is a great way to keep track of your research progress throughout the semester.
