Now that we've covered the essential features and navigation of StoryMaps, let's try it out with a real-world example focusing on the Colorado River. Developed by our GMP Library Staff from UC including Amy Koshoffer, Man Qi, and others, this workshop will hopefully guide you through creating an engaging narrative about one of America's most significant waterways. Here are the agendas:
- Getting the workshop materials
- Introduction to ESRI environment and StoryMaps
- Composing the story
- Preparing data
- Composing the story
- Sharing the story
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Feel comfortable telling stories about their research in the StoryMap platform and incorporate maps into this mode of storytelling
- Have an introductory knowledge of the functions of the StoryMaps platform
- Know how to keep up with the StoryMap changes

We'll be working with a comprehensive set of materials available through the Open Science Framework (OSF) repository. To begin, access the workshop materials through one of these view-only links:

Download and extract the files to your local drive - we recommend using C:\temp for easy access.
Finally, locate the Word document file, named Storymaps_ColoradoRiver_wrkshp_v02_202302.docx
This is the self-paced guide on creating your StoryMaps about the Colorado River. Go ahead and explore on your own!
