The Library Resources link is an application that starts when you open your Canvas course. It matches the course code to assigned metadata on the Library Guides platform. This will allow you to have library information that is updated and maintained by library staff without having to manage or install anything in Canvas.
How are the guides assigned?
Library liaisons assign specific metadata to library guides that correspond to specific courses. If you would like to have a specific library guide please contact your library liaison. (Link below.)
The guide on my course seems very generic.
In order to match a guide to every course in Canvas, the program designates a default guide in case a match is not made to a specific guide. This is likely the guide you are seeing. If you would like to have a specific library guide assigned to your course, please contact your library liaison. (Link below.)
If you already have library information incorporated into your course and would like to remove the link from your course's navigation menu, please follow the below instructions:
1. Click into the course you'd like to remove the link from
2. Click the Settings link from the bottom of your Course Navigation menu
3. Click the Navigation tab
4. Find the Library Resources box in the list
5. Click and hold the Library Resources box
6. Drag the box to below the statement that says "Drag items here to hide them from students."
7. Click the Save button
The link is now disabled and will not show up in your course's navigation.
If you'd like to enable the link later, repeat these steps, but in Step 6, drag the box above the statement that says "Drag items here to hide them from students" to do so.
