Faculty Authorized Borrower Form for Research Assistants

Faculty Authorized Borrower Form

Please use the authorization form below to allow your research assistant to check out items under your library account. Students are responsible for any materials borrowed under their own account, even if is for a faculty member's research. If a faculty member returns something late, the student would be billed for the item.  Faculty also have greater borrowing privileges than students; therefore students should not check out materials for a faculty member under their student account.

The faculty member is ultimately responsible for all materials charged to his or her account for the dates specified. If no time period is specified on the authorization form, the authorized borrowing privileges will be issued for one semester only. The maximum authorization period is one year at a time. All of the authorizing faculty member’s privileges and restrictions will apply to books borrowed on their behalf. Authorized borrowers should present materials at the checkout desk and specify that they are to be charged out to the appropriate authorizing faculty member. Any notices of overdue or recalled materials will be sent to the faculty member.

Research Assistant Training

The reference librarians can provide custom database training and research advice to faculty research assistants. Consulting with a reference librarian saves the RA’s time and ensures that faculty members receive quality research results.

To take advantage of this service, please have your RA contact your faculty library liaison to arrange a consultation. We have also developed an RA Guide that can be distributed to your research assistant.
