Oxford Music Online
Comprehensive music reference source. Useful starting point for research. Contains over 50,000 signed (authored) articles, most with bibliographies. Updated continuously. Includes Grove Music Online, combining:

Music database of journal articles, books (including conference proceedings), essays in collections of essays, and dissertations. Includes more than 850,000 records with citations, abstracts, subject indexing, and links to full text when available. Grows by 52,000 records annually. Coverage since 1967. Covers all aspects of music, including musicology, ethnomusicology, music analysis, composition, popular music studies, dance studies, jazz studies, music pedagogy, music therapy, performance practice. Access is via EBSCO.
Music Periodicals Database
(known as IIMP - International Index to Music Periodicals) International index and abstracts to over 600 periodicals, from 1874 to the present, 220 included in full text. Covers all aspects of music, including music education, performance, ethnomusicology, musical theatre, theory, popular music, and composition. Access is via ProQuest.
Music Index
International index to nearly 600 journals on popular and classical music. Includes abstracts, and links to full text when available. Online coverage from 1970. Access is via EBSCO.
For articles written between 1949 and 1970, consult annual cumulative volumes in the print version (CCM Library Reference ML1 .M74).

Archive of articles from scholarly journals in various disciplines. Generally provides access to PDFs of entire issues. Recent volumes (last five years, approx.) not included.
